Sport Hawke’s Bay has approved funding for 16 new projects through the latest funding round of the Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa fund.
Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa is a partnership between Sport NZ and Regional Sports Trusts across Hawke’s Bay. The fund aims to support programmes or projects that focuses on play, active recreation and sport experiences for tamariki and rangatahi.
Over $680,000 was granted in the previous financial year and Sport NZ has committed to continuing to support tamariki and rangatahi across the Hawke’s Bay across the 2022/23.
Sport Hawke’s Bay Community Partnership Advisor, Kate Benny says “Sport Hawke’s Bay has seen some great applications over the past 12 months for the Tū Manawa fund as we continue to build awareness.”
“We are proud to be in a position where we can support new initiatives being established in Hawke’s Bay that support our young people to get active. Last year we supported over 100 organisations that are providing quality experiences for our tamariki and rangatahi and this new year of funding has started very strong as well”
Over $79,000 went to organisations across the Hawke’s Bay region including supporting two active recreation projects from Wellness Riders and Napier City Council, providing young people an opportunity to get active through skateboarding.
"It is great to see applicants listening to participants and providing opportunities for them to be active in a way that they want to be. We encourage organisations to work alongside our young people and involve them more in the planning of the project. I strongly recommend anyone interested in applying to contact us.”
From the funding, $26,124 went to sporting opportunities, $46,729 to active recreation and a further $4,500 to play projects.
“Even if you have had funding from us before, we are here to support you and provide more funding to our community”
Funding for the next Fast Fund (applications up to $10,000) are open and close on 10th September 2022.
