MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

SECONDARY SCHOOL SPORT​​​​​​​

Each year over 6000 secondary school students, participate in sport and recreation in Hawke’s Bay.

Our vision is to nurture an equitable and inclusive environment for children to build a lifelong love of sport and physical activity through positive and meaningful experiences


MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Hawke’s Bay Secondary School Sport Management Committee is a collective group of school representatives assigned to protect the best interests of schools and school sport.

The Management Committee Chair is also a board member for the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Sport Council and represents the best interests of our region.

The Management Committee is Chaired by Hastings Boys' High School Principal, Rob Sturch and is supported by a range of Principals, HOD and Sports Coordinators made up from schools throughout the region.

SECONDARY SCHOOL PARTICIPATION DATA

This data is produced from the New Zealand Secondary School Sport Census which schools complete annually.

The data encompasses "meaningful participation" which is classed as:

  • A student representing their school at an event (e.g. pulling on their school jersey)
  • OR a student participating in a meaningful competition that is no less than 6 weeks in duration
  • OR a student participations in a project that is KiwiSport funded
  • OR a student participates with another school or a club as the school had no teams or was allowed dispensation
