The Wairoa Sport Awards will be held on the 28th November 2008, these awards recognise the sporting achievements of a rural community.
The Wairoa Sports Awards include the following categories:

Junior Sports Person
Open to any individual (male or female) who has excelled in one or more sports within the qualifying period. Nominees must be under 20 years of age at the time of their performance. |

Senior Sports Person
Open to any individual (male or female) who has excelled in one or more sports with in the qualifying period. Nominees must be over 20 years of age at the time of their performance. |
 |
Sports Team
Outstanding performance by a team of two or more persons within the qualifying period. |
 |
Coach
Outstanding performance by a coach within the qualifying period. |
 |
Administrator
Significant contribution by a club, association, sport event administrator or manager (paid or unpaid) within the qualifying period. |
 |
Club Operation
Open to all clubs who have performed, on and off the field, during the qualifying period. |

55+ Active
This category is to acknowledge and recognize our 60+ people who contribute to Active Recreation who are physically active, active in their marae and active in the community. |
 |
Official
Outstanding performance by a referee, umpire or judge within the qualifying period. |

2008 Sportsperson of the Year
The Sportsperson of the Year is selected from the winners of the Junior Sportsperson, Senior Sportsperson and Coach awards. |
