We write to advise that after careful consideration Sport Hawke’s Bay have decided to cease providing its holiday programme service. This will mean that the upcoming Taakaro Taakaro and Seriously Fun Sports Week programmes will be the last from Sport Hawke’s Bay.
This decision has been made due to a number of factors. Firstly our organisation has moved into a facilitation model, rather than a hands-on delivery model and with a number of excellent holiday programme providers in the area the need for Sport Hawke’s Bay to provide this community service is no longer appropriate. In future we will focus on providing support and publicity to the various holiday programmes on offer, focusing on those that provide the best opportunity to keep kids active during school holidays. Secondly, with rising staff costs and general overheads, Sport Hawke’s Bay is now no longer in a position to subsidise these programmes as we have done in the past.
