Roopu Maanaki

It is with great pleasure to announce the appointment of Tom Mulligan (Ngati Kahungunu me Ngati Porou) as chairman of the Roopu Manaaki Advisory Group for Sport Hawkes Bay.

Tom is a well respected Kaumatua within the Kahungunu region and is a great advocate for Maori chairing many organisations such as Te Taiwhenua O Heretaunga, Matahiwi Marae and Tu Meke PHO. He comes with a strong background in the Sport and Health sectors and sits on the board for the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board.

The role of the Roopu Manaaki is to provide strategic advice to the Sport Hawke’s Bay whanau on the needs and aspirations of Maori here in the Kahungunu region; specifically in sport, active recreation, physical activity, health and well being. The Roopu Manaaki also provides support in areas of Maori Tikanga and Kawa to the Kaiwhakahaere and Chief Executive Officer.

We are extremely fortunate to have such a knowledgeable man supporting the mahi of Sport Hawkes Bay and have confidence in his leadership and guidance of the Roopu Manaaki. Sport Hawkes Bay would also like to acknowledge the following members for their commitment and support.

Introduction of Te Wairoa Roopu Manaaki Members

A Te Wairoa Roopu Manaaki has been established as a Strategic Advisory Roopu for local Kaiwhakahaere Sara Rangi and to be able to add Wairoa’s voice and direction to the Regional Roopu Manaaki.

It has been great to establish the Wairoa Roopu to give more direction to the He Oranga Poutama programme in Wairoa and to bring the different networks together to give guidance to develop healthier, more active lifestyles for Maori in our Community.
