The Hawke's Bay Regional Sport and Active Recreation Strategy has been two years in the making and follows extensive consultation with the various components and stakeholders which make up the sector. Sponsored and supported by the Territorial Authorities, in particular the Napier City and Hastings District Councils, the strategy provides a ten year blueprint for the provision of sport and active recreation services, programmes and facilities across the Hawke's Bay, through a collaborative, regional approach.
In simple terms, if we all work together as a region, and without inward thinking, parochial rivalry, we can produce the highest participation rates in the country; we can have the healthiest families; we can develop high class facilities; we can produce competitive teams and individuals and we can see this sector recognised as a contributor to regional economic development.
